3 likely retention strategies of KKR featuring Harshit Rana as uncapped player

Harshit Rana is now an uncapped player. Unless he miraculously gets in as a replacement cricketer for the Test series against New Zealand, Harshit will not make his India debut before October 31st. Hence, KKR can retain him at INR 4 Cr. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three likely retention strategies of KKR featuring Harshit Rana as an uncapped player.

1) Strategy 1 – Shreyas Iyer, Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Varun CV and Harshit Rana

KKR is one of the franchises that reportedly did not want a Mega Auction. With six retention choices given now, KKR might make full use of it. This is despite the big gap in the purse that the franchise has to suffer.

While Shreyas Iyer and Harshit Rana are sure to be on the retention list, Narine and Russell will also come in as the core. Rinku Singh is needed due to his unique attributes and Varun is a must as the Indian spinner.

2) Strategy 2 – Shreyas Iyer, Rinku Singh, Varun CV and Harshit Rana

KKR will have to spend INR 32 Cr to make the fourth and the fifth retention. The management might consider this because Narine and Russell do not have a lot of years to offer.

If that is the decision, KKR could go for an Indian core comprising Shreyas, Rinku, Varun and Harshit. They can target to get back Narine and Russell using the RTM Card.

3) Strategy 3 – Shreyas Iyer, Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh, Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh

Retaining two uncapped cricketers is one of the retention strategies of KKR featuring Harshit Rana as an uncapped player. KKR has quite a few uncapped players who could be used for this rule. Ramandeep Singh is an option in this regard.

This strategy will save a lot of money for KKR. They can use the RTM Card to then buy the remaining members whom they need on priority.
