Be it the Bazball or the Rishabh Pant effect, making runs at a good strike rate in Tests is now not surprising. Actually, it takes a lot of skills and a proper mindset to make it happen. Under Gautam Gambhir, we could see more of this. Interestingly, some players seemed to have already got the hang of it. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two players who scored runs at a strike rate above 90 in the Duleep Trophy 2024 (min 150 runs).
1) Sanju Samson – SR of 95.60 (196 runs)
Sanju Samson was not selected for the Duleep Trophy in the first place. Considering he is a white-ball specialist, the decision was justified. However, he later got a chance to come in as a replacement player. He had to spend time on the bench initially, though.
After he got a game, Sanju actually played well. In his trademark style, he took on most of the bowlers and even scored a century. Yes, he could have a tough road ahead into the Test Team but seeing his aggressive nature, it won’t be a surprise if he becomes a part of the plan in the future.
2) Shreyas Iyer – SR of 92.2 (154 runs)
Shreyas Iyer is one of the players who scored runs at a strike rate above 90 in Duleep Trophy 2024. In his short Test career, till now, Shreyas has displayed a lot of technical ability, especially at home. He has made it possible to score runs at a decent strike rate. However, he is out of the Test Team now.
He could have improved his case in the Duleep Trophy. However, barring the first few innings, he later just could not make it count. In the initial knocks, he made runs at a good strike rate. That said, he still has the age and skills to make it back to the Indian Test Team.
