As a cricketing nation, New Zealand is not in the greatest of phases. Nevertheless, there are talented cricketers in the setup who can go on and help the side win trophies. Some of these talented players could be of great value in the IPL, as well. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three New Zealand cricketers RCB can target to replace Faf du Plessis for IPL 2025.
Note: We have considered players who are likely to be released by their current outfits.
1) Rachin Ravindra
At IPL 2024 Auctions, many expected Rachin Ravindra to be signed up by RCB. He is a Bengaluru boy and even Rachin spoke about the connection he had with the city. However, as expected, there was no vacancy and RCB could not sign him.
For CSK, he had a couple of good matches and then lost track. That said, he is young and he shall develop. RCB can use his aggressive batting at the top of the order. He is a left-hander and that adds variety. Of course, he also chips in as an off-spinner.
2) Finn Allen
Finn Allen is one of the New Zealand cricketers RCB can target to replace Faf du Plessis for IPL 2025. He spent a while at RCB on the bench.
It could be time for RCB to bring back the talented opener. He is in form and deserves a go in the IPL. Since he is also a wicket-keeper, there could be demand from other teams, as well.
3) Glenn Phillips
It is actually at the top of the order that Glenn Phillips started his career. However, later on, he became a middle-order batter. He is a specialist finisher in the T20 format now.
If they are targeting him, RCB will probably use Phillips in the middle-order. He could be the ideal man to replace Dinesh Karthik. If RCB find another wicket-keeper, they can also use Phillips as a right-arm off-spinner.
