As per reports, LSG is likely to release KL Rahul. Nicholas Pooran could be the next skipper but the management might consider some Indian options, as well. Here, we take a look at the list of three Indians LSG could target as the skipper for IPL 2025 if KL Rahul leaves the outfit.

1) Nitish Rana
Nitish Rana was the captain of KKR in IPL 2023. He did a fine job in the absence of Shreyas Iyer. KKR is likely to release him and some teams could target Rana as the new skipper.
Considering he plays spin well, Rana would be good as a batter at EKANA. Considering his experience, he could also be used as a captaincy option.
2) Krunal Pandya
Krunal Pandya is one of the Indians LSG could target as the skipper for IPL 2025 if KL Rahul leaves the outfit. The all-rounder has been the stand-in captain in some games already for LSG. He is anyways already a part of the franchise.
Krunal has experience as a player in the IPL. At the same time, he has decent captaincy experience at the domestic level. Therefore, he would be a good candidate for LSG to consider. It would be a risky move but if Krunal does well, it will help the franchise.
3) Rohit Sharma
Yes, you head it right! If three or four retentions are only allowed for a franchise before IPL 2025, Mumbai Indians will be forced to release Rohit Sharma. There would be quite a few teams that will want to hire the T20 World Cup-winning captain.
LSG might groom an alternative in the next two years but in the transition, they can give the task to Rohit. His batting form is also good and may be, a change in environment could bring the best out of Rohit’s bat in IPL.
