In the modern era, a wrist spinner is a must in every T20 XI. However, in the past, we have seen teams find success without having a good leg-spinner. That said, it is also important to have a decent option so that the team does not fall back when it comes to favourable matchups. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three teams that do not have an established wrist spinner for IPL 2024.
1) Chennai Super Kings
After Imran Tahir, CSK has not had a good leg-spinner in the side. Prashant Solanki is the existing option but he has not had a good run in the domestic circuit. Hence, he may not be reliable.
That said, CSK won IPL 2023 without needing a leg-spinner. The strategy will be the same for the upcoming season, as well.
2) Royal Challengers Bangalore
RCB is one of the teams that do not have an established wrist spinner for IPL 2024. At the Chinnaswamy Stadium, a team without a leg-spinner usually struggles. Because of the small boundaries, a lot needs to be done off the pitch and only leg-spinners can do that.
Having released Wanindu Hasaranga, the team now has Karn Sharma and Himanshu Sharma. Both of these players are not established, although it needs to be noted that Karn has played for India before. However, in the recent domestic season, he was also dropped from the side on many occasions.
3) Kolkata Knight Riders
You might argue that KKR has a young leg-spinner in Suyash Sharma. However, till now, he has had only one good IPL and domestic season.
Analysts would have derived tactics against him already. Hence, Suyash will be under pressure to deliver next season. His advantage will be that he will play at the Eden Gardens, which will support the spinners heavily.
