Jofra Archer has found a new home in the IPL and he is now a Mumbai Indians player as Mumbai Indians have bought him with a long term point of view. It was clear to all the franchises that Jofra, in all likelihood, won’t be available for IPL 2022, but Mumbai Indians still went ahead and spent a huge sum of money on Jofra just to make sure that they have a double penetrative pace attack of Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra in future.
But, now one of the old tweets of Jofra Archer is going viral where he said that he absolutely hates watching Bumrah bowl. It’s a tweet of 2014 and Jofra was not a reputed cricketer at that point of time. He was only playing junior cricket and was tweeting while watching IPL as a normal fan. But, the fans on twitter dug out that old tweet after Jofra was bought by Mumbai and it’s being shared widely now.
Mumbai Indians have had a double penetrative attack of Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah in the past as well, but it was formed at a time when Bumrah was a young man coming through the ranks, while Malinga was reaching the twilight of his career.
However, in the case of Bumrah and Jofra, they both are accomplished players and are at the peak of their respective careers at the moment. So, their duo might turn out to be even more dangerous than the duo of Bumrah and Malinga, however, the only concern is the fitness.
Jofra Archer has gone through multiple injuries in his short international career, so far
While Bumrah has already gone through a significant lower back injury, Archer has gone through multiple injuries so far in his career as well and both of them play all three formats of the game. How fit they are going to be in the coming seasons, particularly Archer, is something which remains to be seen.
It would be very interesting how Jofra Archer fits into the Mumbai set-up as well. Going by his old tweet which is now viral, it doesn’t seem as if he used to like Mumbai Indians a lot while watching the IPL in his junior cricket days. Here is the old tweet of Archer about Bumrah –
Hate to seem bumrah bowl
