The deadline for submitting lists of retained and released players for the Indian Premier League 2023 was November 15, so teams are already planning their strategies. The tournament is scheduled to begin in March of next year.

The IPL 2022 champions, the Rajasthan Royals, have released nine players but have kept Riyan Parag, a 21-year-old cricketer who represents Assam in domestic cricket, despite his poor performance over the past few seasons.

According to an interview given by Riyan Parag, the message is straightforward: RR has trust in his talents. He claims that the vast majority of fans only see his subpar performance in the IPL and have no idea how the team performs together or how he does in practice matches. Nonetheless, the whole Royal family has trust in him since they have seen him train or have seen flashes of him play in the contests. Riyan Parag chimes in that he’s been with the franchise for four years now (though it’s technically his fifth), and that he hopes to make good on his RR repayment soon.

In 12 games during the 2020 IPL season, Riyan Parag managed just 86 runs, and things didn’t improve in the following year’s IPL competition, where he played 11 times and managed just 93. The Assamese cricketer’s performance in the IPL 2022 was only adequate, as he amassed 183 runs in 17 games and hit 50 once.

The fact that Riyan Parag gets to bat sixth or seventh in the lineup has inspired him to discuss the benefits of batting down the order. He believes that batting at number six or seven is the most challenging position in Twenty20 cricket because it requires the batter to come in late and hit the strokes. He continues by adding that few men have been able to perfect the skill of batting at the sixth or seventh spot, before quickly correcting himself to state that only MS Dhoni has done so and that he is doing it at a very early point in his career.

Riyan Parag continues by saying he is not only striving to master it but is also extremely near to knowing what it feels like and is simply working his way through it. To wrap off, he says that despite what some may think, he has a tough task to do and the support of his team.
