2 foreign players who could retire from IPL after IPL 2024

Every edition, we see at least one or two players retiring from the competition. It needs to be noted that the era has changed and we are witnessing far fewer retirements now. Nevertheless, as per reports, there could be a mega-auction before IPL 2025. Hence, some players might have to retire to allow the new generation to take over. They might anyways not get an opportunity if they stay as a player. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two foreign players who could retire from IPL after IPL 2024.

1) Faf du Plessis

Last season, Faf du Plessis was in fine form. He was at his peak fitness and he had also improved his game against spin. Hence, he could score a lot of runs for RCB and that, too, at a good strike rate. That said, since then, Faf has struggled to score runs and also maintain his fitness.

Hence, it would not be a surprise if he hung up his boots after IPL 2024. He could also see the upcoming edition as an opportunity to get back into the South African squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. If that does not happen, he might not get a chance again.

2) Mohammad Nabi

Mohammad Nabi is one of the foreign players who could retire from IPL after IPL 2024. It was a surprise when Mumbai Indians picked up Mohammed Nabi in IPL 2024 Auctions. While his recent form in IPL has not been great, there were younger and better in-form players available. However, MI chose to go for experience.

Nabi, though, will have his chances limited in the coming seasons. He might, as well, quit from the competition. 2024 T20 World Cup could also be his last assignment as an international player. Therefore, this year could be the end for Nabi in the mainstream competitions.
