Former Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper, Virat Kohli started the IPL 2023 on a grand note as he chipped in with an impeccable 82 off 49 balls against Mumbai Indians at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Virat Kohli remained unbeaten throughout the game and anchored the run-chase perfectly well at a strike rate of 167.35. He drew plaudits for his attacking brand of cricket as he constructed his innings with the help of six boundaries and five hits over the fence.

The former RCB skipper is expected to dictate the terms in the ongoing season. If Virat Kohli keeps up his form and maintains consistency levels, RCB will surely benefit from his services going forward into the season.

Former RCB player, Chris Gayle, reserved the highest respect for RCB captain Virat Kohli after RCB beat Mumbai Indians by eight wickets in the team’s opening fixture.

Speaking on the same lines, Chris Gayle said there is going to be carnage and damage for bowlers in days to come from the run machine. Virat Kohli is also the leading run-scorer in the history of the IPL.

The right-handed batsman has scored 6706 runs at an impressive batting average of 36.64. Notably, he has slammed as many as five centuries and 45 half-centuries to his credit.

Virat Kohli holds the record for scoring the most runs in a single IPL season. The star cricketer aggregated 973 runs in a single season in the IPL 2016 campaign wherein he scored four centuries and seven fifties to his name, a record that remains intact.

It will be quite interesting to see how he goes about his work in the ongoing season and judging by his signs, it is quite obvious that Virat Kohli will be looking to dominate the season and guide the team to maiden IPL title.
