New Zealand is an underrated team in the sport right now. However, now and again, the team has done well at the highest stage. This time around, too, not many are talking about them but they are not a team that can be taken lightly. They also do not have too many changes from the squad that almost won the event in 2019. Here, we take a look at five New Zealand players who played in the 2019 ODI WC but will not feature in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

New Zealand players who won’t feature in the 2023 ODI World Cup

Ross Taylor and Colin de Grandhomme are the only two players who will miss out due to retirement. While Taylor’s was expected, Colin’s decision was a surprising one. Martin Guptill is another big name that will not feature in this edition. He is out of the setup due to form issues. Colin Munro is also one of the prominent players who will not play in the 2023 ODI WC.

Will the Kiwis get third-time lucky?

New Zealand reached the finals in the last two editions. However, they failed to succeed at the final step. Nevertheless, they will look to do well again, this time in India. The team does have a balanced squad that can help the nation win a major white-ball event.

Kane Williamson has been confirmed to play in the 2023 ODI WC. This is a big boost for the side. Along with Devon Conway and Tom Latham, the trio will form the core of the batting line-up. The bowling side is strong, with the likes of Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Lockie Ferguson in the unit. Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner will comprise the spin attack of this side.
