Royal Challengers Bengaluru had a decent outing in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. While they did get some good players, there were some debatable signings, as well. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three weaknesses in the RCB squad for IPL 2025.
1) Unreliable Spin-department
Spinners play a crucial role in a T20 side, especially in the IPL. However, yet again, RCB has failed to forge a good spin combination.
Lead spinner Krunal Pandya is a defensive option and is not known to be a wicket-taker. Suyash Sharma had a forgettable run in IPL 2024. He would anyways not be a fit for the home venue.
2) No.3 is a big weakness in the RCB squad for IPL 2025
The No.3 role is one of the weaknesses in the RCB squad for IPL 2025. These days, the No.3 role is becoming very important for a T20 side. RCB did miss a trick here.
The best choice they have is Devdutt Padikkal, assuming Rajat Patidar plays at No.4. Jacob Bethell’s introduction could weaken the combination. Therefore, DDP could play at No.3 and he has been in terrible form in the IPL.
3) No pacers with raw pace
Each team will have a mix of a variety of pacers. However, RCB seems to have a similar set of options in the pace department.
Interestingly, there is not one pacer who can consistently bowl above 140. Also, the squad does not have a good hit-the-deck specialist.
