Chennai Super Kings had a great run in the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. However, there were a few holes that were tough to fill. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three weaknesses in the CSK squad for IPL 2025.
1) Lack of a powerful finisher
Not having a powerful finisher or a pace-hitter is one of the weaknesses in the CSK squad for IPL 2025. MS Dhoni cannot play a long inning while Ravindra Jadeja’s batting form is not great.
Shivam Dube is influential in the middle overs. Having a powerful pace hitter could have ticked a box in the side. Someone like Liam Livingstone would have been perfect.
2) The Indian batting core consists of many out-of-favour Indian cricketers
It has been five years since MS Dhoni has retired. He is the lead finisher for the side. The team does not have backups, as well.
The likes of Rahul Tripathi, Deepak Hooda and Vijay Shankar are all out of the Indian setup. CSK will hope that these players will click like it happened with similar cricketers in the past.
3) Having no experienced Indian pacer is one of the weaknesses in the CSK squad for IPL 2025
It is necessary to have an experienced Indian pacer in the side. Although CSK did try for a few options, they could not get any.
The likes of Anshul Kamboj and Mukesh Choudhary will have to take the responsibility of the Indian pace attack in the side.
