KKR had Phil Salt and then Gurbaz as the wicket-keeper. However, it is always risky to have an overseas cricketer as the first-choice keeper. Considering there is a Mega Auction, it could be hard to get back Phil Salt. Therefore, the franchise could be on the lookout for a promising Indian wicket-keeper. Here, we take a look at the list of three uncapped wicket-keepers KKR could target for IPL 2025.
1) Abishek Porel
It has been a while since a West Bengal cricketer was a part of the KKR setup, especially in the playing XI. The fans of the state are passionate and they would be pleased to have one of their own representing the franchise.
Porel fits the bill perfectly. He is a talented wicket-keeper and has already shown signs of great potential. He can play at multiple slots and that would further help the franchise. Further, he has scope for development, which can happen at KKR.
2) Prabhsimran Singh
Prabhsimran Singh is one of the uncapped wicket-keepers KKR could target for IPL 2025. The Punjab Kings opener did not have a great run in IPL 2024. Barring a few matches, he was mostly out of form. PBKS could therefore release the player.
That said, if he gets consistent opportunities in the top-order, he could be a solid choice to have in the team. He is young and would further develop in the coming years. Therefore, he is on this list.
3) Chethan LR
For a while now, the Karnataka youngster has been attending IPL trials but is yet to get his contract. Before IPL 2024 Auctions, there were reports that KKR would hire the young wicket-keeper batter. However, that did not happen.
Nevertheless, KKR could go for him again. He is good against spin and is still young. KKR can develop him into a proper T20 cricketer in the future.
