In recent months, Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Kumar Reddy made their India debuts. This is a big blow for SRH, who would have wanted to retain these players as uncapped retentions. In the last Mega Auctions, as well, the team had retained two uncapped players. They still have some options whom they can trust. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three uncapped players SRH can retain now that Nitish Reddy made his India debut.
1) Abdul Samad
Abdul Samad was retained as an uncapped player before IPL 2022, as well. However, he has not taken any big strides so far in the league or in his career.
The franchise has trusted him a lot and it won’t take much if they decide to trust him for at least one more year. He has the potential and it is just about bringing it out convincingly.
2) Mayank Markhande
Mayank Markhande is one of the uncapped players SRH can retain now that Nitish Reddy made his India debut. The Punjab spinner last played for India in 2019. Hence, he becomes an uncapped player under the new rule which states that any Indian who has not played for India in the last five years can be retained as an uncapped cricketer.
Mayank is a quality spinner and is just 26 years old. He is already seven years old in the IPL by the time the next season starts. Therefore, putting INR 4 Cr on him could be a wise call. The other Indian leggies could extract a big amount and therefore, this can be a good call.
3) Jhatavedh Subramanyan
Jhatavedh Subramanyan could turn out to be an intelligent signing for SRH. He has not made his debut but he performed well in the recent TNPL.
A quality spinner who can turn the ball both ways, he could be a star in the future. It will be an opportunity to trust him and further support him by signing an experienced spinner at the auctions.
