Rajasthan Royals have not retained Yuzvendra Chahal for IPL 2025 and they do not have an RTM, as well. While they will still target the spinner, the competition to sign him will now be even across the teams. One of the most successful spinners in the history of the competition, quite a few teams will want to sign the cricketer for the next cycle. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three teams which could target Yuzvendra Chahal in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) Chennai Super Kings
It has been a while since CSK has had a good leg-spinner in the side. It is a surprise because Chepauk is a track made for the spinners and CSK has not had a reliable leg-spinner. Chahal is in that stage of his career where CSK could be ideal for his future. The franchise backs their players and the home venue suits him, as well.
Chahal may not fetch a big bid at the auctions. CSK does not have a great purse and therefore, he will be an ideal target for them. With Chahal there, the pressure on Ravindra Jadeja will also be reduced.
2) Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings is one of the teams which could target Yuzvendra Chahal in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. PBKS is building a fresh squad and they could be looking at a new spin attack. Rahul Chahar has been decent but he has not done really well for the franchise to sign him back.
Chahal will add great value to the PBKS setup. He is an experienced cricketer and with Ricky Ponting at the helm now, there will be freshness all around and the combination could work. Considering he hails from Haryana, you could also tell that it would be a home franchise for Chahal.
3) Mumbai Indians
It was at MI that Chahal started his IPL career. Later, at RCB, he became very popular. Even in the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions, MI tried hard to sign Chahal but they could not do that. Now, the team is in need of a strong spin attack and hence, they can target the leg-spinner.
At Wankhede, you need wily spinners who can take wickets. Chahal could be expensive but he will draw errors from the batter. This could be of great use in getting wickets. Especially with someone like Jasprit Bumrah bowling at the death, batters will be forced to take on Chahal in the middle overs and this could result in wickets.
