Rajasthan Royals released R Ashwin back to the auctions. There will be a number of teams that will want to sign the veteran. He is a wily spinner and he is very productive with the bat, as well. Here, we take a look at the list of three teams which could target R Ashwin in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) Chennai Super Kings
There are reports that CSK is interested in signing Washington Sundar. However, there is likely to be a big race for him and hence, the franchise will have to draft some alternative options.
R Ashwin will be perfect in this regard. The team needs a good right-arm off-spinner and there is no better choice than a cricketer who once played for the franchise. The home fans will be mighty pleased with Ashwin’s arrival. Ashwin had done well in the recent TNPL and that must convince the CSK management.
2) Sunrisers Hyderabad
SRH is one of the teams which could target R Ashwin in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. The IPL 2024 finalists have a strong overseas core and two good Indian youngsters. They will need more experience in the Indian contingent to do well in the next seasons.
Spin bowling was an issue with Washington Sundar not up to the mark. Getting Sundar could be hard but SRH could attempt signing R Ashwin. He offers experience and is also a good batter at No.7 or No.8. Hence, SRH is on this list.
3) Lucknow Super Giants
LSG will need as many good spinners as possible. The home venue will support such cricketers. R Ashwin is an option that Justin Langer could seriously consider.
LSG might want to have Krunal Pandya back in the setup. However, he could be expensive. Hence, having Ashwin as a backup option will be a tactic for the franchise. Ashwin will also help Pooran in leadership topics.
