IPL has surprised everyone by announcing a very complex approach for retention. You could tell that the board wants as many players as possible back in the auctions. Therefore, the calls taken during the retention phase are very important for each team. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three teams which could have the highest purse for IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.

1) Punjab Kings

The Punjab Kings will actually be very happy with the rules. Since first retention requires INR 18 Cr, they may not even go for it. Arshdeep Singh could be hired at a lower price at the auctions with the RTM Card.

Prabhsimran Singh, Shashank Singh, Harpreet Brar, Ashutosh Sharma and Vidwath Kaverappa are the options in the uncapped category. At the same time, RTM can be used for the likes of Jitesh Sharma, and Sam Curran and maybe, even for someone like Liam Livingstone. Hence, PBKS could have a lot of money.

2) Lucknow Super Giants

LSG is one of the teams which could have the highest purse for IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. It all depends on whether LSG will retain KL Rahul or not. If they retain him, Nicholas Pooran will be the other capped option for LSG. Otherwise, they will not retain other capped cricketers.

The likes of Mayank Yadav will be retained only if they are uncapped. Mohsin Khan could be an option as an uncapped cricketer. Ravi Bishnoi can be a target through the RTM option.

3) Gujarat Titans

Looking at the new rules, only Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan seem fit for retention. Since B Sai Sudharsan is capped, he may not warrant more than INR 10 Cr and GT could target to sign him using the RTM Card. The same could happen with Shami.

Now, GT does have a few options for the uncapped category. Rahul Tewatia, Vijay Shankar, Abhinav Manohar, and Mohit Sharma could all be discussed regarding this option.
