Every year, some captaincy periods come to an end. That is how IPL moves forward and there is no way to avoid this. These days, franchises tend to be proactive as they usually have a plan for the next decade. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three teams that might change their captain after IPL 2024 irrespective of the result.

1) Chennai Super Kings

It was a doubt if MS Dhoni would play in IPL 2024. However, once the franchise announced the retention list, it was confirmed that Dhoni would feature in the season.

That said, considering his age and knee issues, it could be the last season for him in the IPL. CSK must plan for a future without Dhoni and IPL 2025 will be the right time for that to begin.

2) Royal Challengers Bangalore

A few seasons ago, RCB appointed Faf du Plessis as the skipper. Then, it was clear that this was never going to be a long-term plan. Cut to a few years later, Faf is still the captain of the side and IPL 2024 could be his last in the tournament, both as a player and a skipper.

RCB must now have a look at their plans for their future. While most teams have someone who can be considered the next skipper, RCB does not have too many options. They could take a similar option of giving an experienced player Glenn Maxwell a few more years as skipper or they might push someone like Rajat Patidar to the helm.

3) Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings is also one of the teams that might change their captain after IPL 2024 irrespective of the result. Shikhar Dhawan has been struggling with fitness and at times, with form, as well.

It would not be a surprise if Dhawan is released by PBKS after IPL 2024. Sam Curran could be the frontrunner to become the leader of the side.
