Duleep Trophy finished with India A winning the trophy. Some players did not enjoy a good run. Here, we take a look at the list of three poor performers in Duleep Trophy 2024 who could struggle to come back to the Test Team.
1) Shreyas Iyer – 154 runs in 6 innings
Shreyas Iyer was not included in the Test series against Bangladesh. This was a big warning sign for him that he may not be given an easy path back to the Test side.
Considering this, he should have been under the pump to make a statement. However, it was a disappointing show from his side. He just could not stitch a long innings. It’s hard for him right now.
2) Rajat Patidar – 146 runs in 6 innings
Rajat Patidar is one of the poor performers in the Duleep Trophy 2024 who could struggle to come back to the Test Team. Ideally, after a poor outing in his debut series, Rajat Patidar must have made this tournament count. However, he could not do that.
While he came up with cameos, he just could not put up a defining knock. Also, he struggled against the likes of Aaqib Khan, which further has put doubts on his skills for the longer format. With the likes of Sarfaraz Khan doing so well, it looks hard for Rajat now.
3) Washington Sundar – 3 wickets and 114 runs
It was a top platform for Washington Sundar to perform well and get a chance on the Test side. Especially with his white-ball career going in the right direction, he could have taken this chance to do well in the red-ball format.
However, he was extremely poor with the ball. 3 wickets in 3 games is not good enough for a player considered as a future replacement for R Ashwin. He does not have a spot vacant in the batting department and hence, any good show with the bat may not count much.
