The final of the ICC World Test Championship 2023 is likely to take place from June 7 to 11 at the Oval. The tournament is coming down to the wire and only Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka and India are in contention. It remains to be seen who will be the two teams to play the final in June this year.

Qualification scenario for Team India for World Test Championship Final after a 188-run win over Bangladesh

While Australia is one favourite to qualify, India on the other hand is the second hot contender to play in the final. Their thumping victory over Bangladesh in the first Test by 188 runs in Chattogram has taken them one step close to the final of the World Test Championship.

They were placed fourth on the points table of WTC 2023 with 6 wins from 12 games and had 52 points to their name with 52.08%. But the win over Bangladesh has taken them to the third sport with 55.7% They now have 7 wins from 13 games to go with four losses and two draws as well.

They now have 5 matches left and all they need to do is win 4 out of their remaining matches. They have 1 match coming up against Bangladesh whereas their last four matches will be against Australia next year at home.

Having won the first game against Bangladesh, they now need to complete the whitewash and win by the margin of 2-0 and then beat Australia by 4-0 or 3-1 or 3-0. If they manage to achieve the feat they will be through and will most likely face Australia, who thumped South Africa in the Test as well.

India’s schedule for the next 5 Test matches 

After the thumping win in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram. The second match is now slated to begin on 22nd December in Dhaka. But the real Test will begin when they will lock horns against Australia at home.

The first game between the nations will be played on February 9th in Nagpur followed by the second Test to be played on 17th February in Delhi. The third game between India and Australia is slated to take place on 1st March in Dharamshala whereas the last game will be played on 9th March in Ahmedabad.
