It is very unfortunate when a player suffers an injury that happens when a cricketer least expects it. These injuries can be helpful. Also, if this happens during a major event like the ODI World Cup, the consequences could be even more bitter. A few players had to suffer this during the 2023 ODI World Cup. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players who missed a few games in the 2023 ODI World Cup due to a freak injury.
1) Glenn Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell is the latest to join this list. While the other player suffered an injury on the cricket, it was different in Maxi’s case. It was due to a golfing incident that he will miss some games in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Australia will have it difficult in the absence of Maxwell. He was the second spinner of the side and the finisher with the bat. One of Marcus Stoinis or Cameron Green is likely to take his place.
2) Kane Williamson
Kane Williamson came back from injury to play a game in the World Cup. However, in this match itself, he suffered a freak injury.
He had completed a run and was in no way required to take any risk. However, the fielder threw the ball towards the wicket and the ball hit the finger of Kane against the handle of his bat. It was a painful injury which led to a fracture. He is yet to return from the issue.
3) Shadab Khan
Shadab Khan is also one of the players who missed a few games in the 2023 ODI World Cup due to a freak injury. It was while pulling off a run out that Shadab suffered an injury.
He landed on his shoulder after the acrobatic move and there was some impact on the head, too. Later, he had to exit from the match and Usama Mir had to replace him as the concussion substitute.
