Every IPL season marks the end of the careers of a few cricketers. For an Indian player, age does not matter. He has to perform or else, he might lose demand from franchises. On the other hand, with respect to foreigners, many factors matter. All of it combined has a role in their future in the competition. Here, we take a look at three players who might have played their last IPL game.
1) Kedar Jadhav
Actually, going by his performances at CSK and SRH, many felt that Kedar Jadhav might not play IPL again. However, in a surprise, RCB signed up the veteran for a few games in IPL 2023. As expected, they had to release him after that.
Now, in the final shortlist, Kedar Jadhav‘s name was not found. It might have also been due to his base price, which was set at INR 2 crores. Now, Kedar is likely to go full-time as a commentator. Considering his age, it would be hard to stitch a comeback.
2) Mandeep Singh
Mandeep Singh is one of the players who might have played their last IPL game. After his stint at RCB, barring a few games, Mandeep has found the going tough in IPL.
He did get a few matches at KKR last season. However, he failed to impress. Like Kedar, even Mandeep has now missed the final shortlist. This is a hint of what the franchises think. Unless he really has a blockbuster domestic season, it is hard for Mandeep Singh in IPL. Especially because he plays in the middle-order in domestic games, accumulating runs is difficult and without this, franchises don’t take notice.
3) Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan is also a part of this list. It mainly has to do with his availability and also his recent form, which has not been special.
Domestic left-arm spinners are available in most teams. Therefore, the demand for someone like Shakib has reduced. His off-field issues could also play a role here.
