Captaining a team is the dream of almost every cricketer who starts playing professionally. However, it is not everyone’s cup of tea have a long career as a captain in any format of the game. If the player does not perform well or the team does not get the necessary results, the captain is blamed. To play 200 matches as captain is a big thing.

A captain always tries to keep his team first. If a player gets injured, he immediately loses his captaincy, and if someone else performs better in his absence, then the player ends up losing captaincy of the team permanently as well. One of the examples is Shreyas Iyer, who led DC to IPL 2020 Final, but did not get a chance to lead in IPL 2021 due to injury, and then, he had to play under Rishabh Pant’s captaincy.
