It is obvious that the form of a player at an ICC event will dictate his future in the Indian Premier League. With a Mega Auction set to happen before IPL 2025, teams will be keenly watching the ongoing T20 World Cup. Here, we take a look at the list of three players who did well in the 2024 T20 World Cup and might be retained before IPL 2025.
1) Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh has been doing well in the 2024 T20 World Cup. With the new ball, he is taking wickets and this is allowing Rohit Sharma to use Jasprit Bumrah freely. That said, Arshdeep will have tougher tests in the coming days.
However, after the season he had in IPL 2024, Punjab Kings might have considered releasing him. Nevertheless, if Arshdeep continues his current form, PBKS will retain the cricketer.
2) Marcus Stoinis
Marcus Stoinis is one of the players who did well in the 2024 T20 World Cup and might be retained before IPL 2025. He is 34 years old and LSG would have released him if there is a Mega Auction.
LSG might still release him but after the splendid work he has been doing in the World Cup, he could become one of the first retentions for the side. Pace-bowling all-rounders are rare and Stoinis is one of the best right now. Therefore, LSG could retain him.
3) Anrich Nortje
Anrich Nortje had one of the worst campaigns in IPL 2024. For a player who was once retained before a Mega Auction, his performance was really poor for Delhi Capitals.
While he will have different challenges in the next stages of the tournament, till now, Nortje has been hard to play. If a player like him is available at his peak fitness, DC could consider retaining him. Hence, the South African cricketer is also on the list.
