It has been a tough ride for Temba Bavuma in the last few months. Since June 14th, Temba Bavuma has played seven T20I encounters till now. He has not made a double-digit score in these games. Before that, whenever he used to make runs also, they used to come at a lower strike rate. He is the skipper of the squad and South Africa must strongly consider dropping him. There are talented players such as Reeza Hendricks and Heinrich Klaasen who are available. On that note, here, we take a look at three players who could lead South Africa T20I squad if Temba Bavuma gets dropped from the team.
1) Keshav Maharaj
I have a lot of time for Temba Bavuma but South Africa need him to find runs rightaway or have the courage to look beyond

Keshav Maharaj will be the automatic choice if Temba Bavuma does not find a place in the XI. The left-arm off-spinner has done a good job whenever he has got a chance to lead the squad. He has the experience and skills to make it count as a leader.
Moreover, Keshav has an important role in the XI. He is the team’s lead spinner, even playing ahead of Tabraiz Shamsi at times. With his spot certain, South Africa will have an easy option to make if Bavuma is dropped.
2) David Miller
Against India recently, with both Bavuma and Maharaj unavailable, Miller led the squad. Although he has never had a full-time chance to lead the squad, considering his experience and importance to the team, Miller will be a fine option.
The southpaw is the most experienced cricketer in the T20I squad. Since IPL 2022, he has been in stunning form and is regularly winning matches for his side. The player is also a calm personality and would help the team be streamlined in its objectives. Therefore, he features on this list.
3) Aiden Markram

If South Africa has to have one eye on the future, the certain choice for captaincy will be Aiden Markram. The right-handed batter is an important component of the team and has sufficient experience now to take the next step in his career.
Markram is also someone who can participate in all three formats of the game in the batting department. With Dean Elgar also on the wrong side of age, South Africa can already start grooming Markram for the future.
