With the retirement of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, India has a tough job to fill. A few might even make a comeback to the side. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players who could make a comeback to the T20I squad after the retirement of Rohit, Virat and Jadeja.
1) KL Rahul
India needs experience at the top of the order, after having lost both Rohit and Virat. An additional wicket-keeping option could also be desired as a backup for Rishabh Pant.
KL Rahul can be a fit here. There are questions about his approach in the T20 game. Until that gets sorted, though, he may not be able to stitch a return to the T20I setup.
2) Krunal Pandya
Krunal Pandya is one of the players who could make a comeback to the T20I squad after the retirement of Rohit, Virat and Jadeja. India does not have too many players in the mould of Jadeja. Axar Patel will surely take up the No.7 slot but there needs to be a backup, as well.
Compared to the likes of Shahbaz Ahmed, Krunal would be a better fit for the time-being. At least, keeping in mind the 2026 T20 World Cup, he would be an option worth considering for the team.
3) Shreyas Iyer
It might not be a surprise if Shreyas Iyer also gets a chance in the T20I squad. He has proved his credentials as a skipper and since Gautam Gambhir has seen him closely, there is a chance that Shreyas can get back to the side.
As mentioned earlier, India needs some experience at the top of the order. When the likes of Rohit and Virat could change their approach, the likes of Shreyas could also do that. Since they are better-skilled, the result will be better.
