Usually, in the year of an ICC tournament, we see many players coming back from retirement. That could happen again before the next ICC event. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players who could come back from retirement before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

1) Naveen-ul-Haq

It was a shock that Naveen retired from ODIs after the 2023 ODI World Cup. For a young cricketer playing for a growing team, the decision gave many a hint of what lies in the future.

That said, Naveen is in better form right now and he might not want to restrict himself to the T20 format. Hence, there is every chance that Jonathan Trott could request him to get back from retirement.

2) Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes is one of the players who could come back from retirement before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. It has been a few times that Stokes has already come back from retirement. It could happen again. Especially with Brendon McCullum becoming the white-ball coach, as well, Stokes could very well be back in ODIs.

In fact, in a recent statement, Stokes mentioned that if Bazz requested him to return to the ODI format, he would consider the same. Since England also requires some experience in the middle-order, this could very well happen in the coming months.

3) Quinton de Kock

Another surprising retirement at the 2023 ODI World Cup was that of Quinton de Kock. Especially since he actually played well in the tournament and also considering he is barely 30, it was a bit shocking to see him take this decision.

That said, South Africa is yet to find a good replacement for him at the top of the order. The management might request him to come back to the ODI format. The player himself could consider one last ICC event in the ODI format.
