Before a Mega Auction, a few decisions taken by franchises could be discussed by many. While the general viewer thinks differently, the management of a team has a different perspective. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players who could be shockingly retained before the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.

1) Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel was the Purple Cap winner in IPL 2024. While he had a poor start to the season, he made up for it with a fine finish. Harshal is also doing well in the new home ground of Punjab Kings.

It could be hard to get him back at the auctions if released. Hence, despite knowing that he can be inconsistent, PBKS could retain the Haryana cricketer.

2) Mayank Yadav

Mayank Yadav is one of the players who could be shockingly retained before IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. Despite his injury-prone nature and the fact that he has a very small sample size of performances in the IPL, Mayank is still seen as a top talent.

LSG might not get access to him if they release him to the auctions. Hence, despite the risks, they could go ahead and retain him. This could be a bold move but if it comes off, they would have a leader in the bowling attack for a few years to come.

3) Faf du Plessis

It needs to be noted that Faf du Plessis is yet to announce his retirement from IPL. He definitely has the fitness to stay in the league at least for one more year.

Considering this and the fact that RCB does not have a successor as a captain, it would not be a surprise if RCB retains the South African cricketer. RCB has made some debatable decisions before a Mega Auction in the past. They could be in line to take another such call again.
