South Africa will be one of the favourites to win the 2024 T20 World Cup. However, a few players had to miss out on the squad. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players unlucky to miss out on the South Africa squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Before that, here is a look at the squad:

South Africa squad: Aiden Markram (c), Ottniel Baartman, Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock, Bjorn Fortuin, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, David Miller, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs. Travelling reserves: Nandre Burger and Lungi Ngidi.

1) Lungi Ngidi

Lungi Ngidi is a wicket-taker and is a surprise that he had to miss out. Considering the IPL 2024 form of Anrich Nortje and Gerald Coetzee, Ngidi would have fancied himself a spot in the final squad. However, that was not to be.

Ngidi is one of the pacers who can bowl in multiple phases. He would have been the ideal first change in the bowling department. Now, the onus could fall on the likes of Coetzee.

2) Nandre Burger

After his impressive show in IPL 2024, Nandre Burger would have been an option for the Proteas. However, they are sticking with Marco Jansen.

It is natural that South Africa is going with a proven candidate. However, if Burger had played a few more games, he would have had a good chance.

3) Dewald Brevis

Dewald Brevis is one of the players unlucky to miss out on the South Africa squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Many see him as the future of the squad. Yet, Brevis misses out even as a travelling reserve.

South Africa must start grooming Brevis before the time runs out. It would have been a good idea to give him the experience of an ICC mega-event. However, that has not happened and it is a bit unfortunate for the youngster.
