3 Players Rajasthan Royals Might Release Before IPL 2023

Share the post

Inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals had their best IPL season of the decade this year as they finished runners-up in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. RR’s team management did an excellent job at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction as they covered all bases by signing experienced names in all departments.

Rajasthan’s first playing XI only needs one good all-rounder, but apart from that, the team will also look to add more backup options. The existing backup options could not impress much, and it should not be a surprise if RR release some of them.

Now that IPL 2022 is in the history books, in this listicle, we will look at the three names Rajasthan Royals might release before IPL 2023.

1. Rajasthan Royals may release Navdeep Saini

RR shelled out 2.6 crores to sign Indian fast bowler Navdeep Saini at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Saini played two matches for RR this season, scalping two wickets. He gave away 72 runs in six overs at an economy rate of 12, which is why the Royals may not retain him for the next season.

2. Rajasthan Royals may not retain Nathan Coulter-Nile for IPL 2023

Nathan Coulter-Nile played only one match for RR, where he returned with figures of 0/48 in three overs. Soon after, he got injured and was ruled out of the tournament. Since RR have enough pace-bowling options, they can think of releasing Nathan. Also, his frequency of getting injured may lead to his release.

3. Daryl Mitchell

New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell did a fantastic job for his country as an opening batter in ICC T20 World Cup 2022. However, he did not get a chance to open the batting for RR this season. He batted in the middle-order twice, scoring 33 runs at a strike rate of less than 80. With RR having so many opening batters, they might release Mitchell.
