3 Players Rajasthan Royals May Retain Despite Their Poor Performance In IPL 2022

Inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals made it to their second final this year. They had a chance to win their second IPL title, but the Royals lost to the Gujarat Titans in the final match. Nevertheless, it was a great season for the Jaipur-based franchise. Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal won the Orange Cap and Purple Cap awards, respectively.

Sanju Samson impressed fans with his captaincy, while youngsters like Kuldeep Sen and Yashasvi Jaiswal had a memorable season. While most players of the team performed well for RR, some players let the fans down with their performances.

A few of them might be released, but RR may retain the following the three players despite their disappointing performance in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.

1. Rajasthan Royals may retain Riyan Parag for IPL 2023

All-rounder Riyan Parag has been with the Jaipur-based franchise since 2019. He has batted as a finisher and bowled part-time spin whenever needed by the captain. Parag is also an excellent fielder. However, the uncapped all-rounder failed to set the stage on fire with his all-around performance.

Parag scored 183 runs at an average of less than 15, while he scalped only one wicket in four innings at an economy rate of 14.75. Since RR have backed him so much, they may retain him for the next season.

2. Rajasthan Royals may retain Nathan Coulter-Nile

Australian all-rounder Nathan Coulter-Nile bowled only three overs for Rajasthan before getting injured. Since he was ruled out of the season early, RR may probably give Coulter-Nile another chance to prove himself.

3. Rassie van der Dussen

South African batter Rassie van dder Dussen has a good record in international cricket, but he scored only 22 runs in three IPL matches this year. Given Rassie’s consistency in international matches, he might receive one more contract from the Jaipur-based IPL franchise.
