It was surprising that Rajasthan Royals released Jos Buttler. While they will surely try to get him back, it will be a hard journey. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players Rajasthan Royals can target as Jos Buttler’s replacement if they cannot get him back in auctions.

1) Mitchell Marsh

It will be a no-brainer for RR to go for an option like Mitchell Marsh. He is a serious candidate to add more firepower to the top-order of the playing XI. Marsh is someone who just takes on the bowlers from the first ball. He is good against the pacers and this could complement well with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is excellent against spinners.

The absence of Buttler will also necessitate a leadership option at the top. Marsh can be that candidate. He is the current T20 skipper of Australia. If Sanju misses a game or two, Marsh should be able to take over as the skipper.

2) Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow is one of the players Rajasthan Royals can target as Jos Buttler’s replacement if they cannot get him back in auctions. If RR does not get Buttler, they could go for another English wicket-keeper batter.

Bairstow might come cheap because of his inconsistency in the last few editions of IPL. However, in the correct system, he can be a beast and RR will hope that they can get the best out of the veteran in IPL 2025 and beyond.

3) Josh Inglis

The Australian wicket-keeper batter will be an under-rated choice in the upcoming Auctions. He has been doing well for a while now and he definitely deserves a stint in the IPL.

The advantage with him is that he can play at various batting slots. He also has the relevant experience. Therefore, he could be a flexible option to have in the playing XI.
