RCB have not had a lot of Kiwi players operate and find success for them. However, there are some New Zealand cricketers who could actually fit the franchise for the next season. All these players are very likely to be released by their current teams. Hence, RCB can have a clear go at them for the next campaign. Here, we take a look at the list of three New Zealand cricketers RCB could realistically target for IPL 2025.
1) Rachin Ravindra
Despite his excellent form in recent months, CSK is very unlikely to retain him before the auctions. Rather, the franchise could try to use the RTM Card to get him back to the side.
A player with a Bengaluru connection, Rachin will be a top choice to replace Faf du Plessis at the top of the order. He is a left-hander and will complement Virat Kohli. The franchise needs a future superstar and Rachin, who also bowls off-spin, can be a definite choice.
2) Mitchell Santner
Mitchell Santner is one of the New Zealand cricketers RCB could realistically target for IPL 2025. He is an extremely under-rated cricketer across the globe.
RCB needs a senior spinner to avoid the mistake of the last squad. They could target Santner, who could actually come at a cheap rate. Plus, the Kiwi also provides batting depth to the side.
3) Glenn Phillips
Yes, the batting position could be different but the Kiwi will be the ideal replacement for Glenn Maxwell in the RCB XI. There are a few other additional benefits which Phillips would bring to the table.
He adds a decent off-spin profile to the bowling attack. It needs to be noted that Phillips is a specialist wicket-keeper and if RCB does not find a suitable option to replace Dinesh Karthik, they can always have Phillips go behind the stumps.
