3 major mistakes KKR made at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions

KKR is out of IPL 2025. The franchise could have done better at the auctions. They committed some major errors. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three major mistakes KKR made at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.

1) Buying QDK before Phil Salt’s name came up in the auction

Even before Phil Salt‘s name had come up, KKR jumped the gun and signed QDK. This was not expected because they could have used the budget to target Salt, who had done so well for the side in IPL 2024. It was a tactical error from the management.

2) Overspending on Venkatesh Iyer is one of the mistakes KKR made at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions

It is never a good approach to spend almost 1/4th of your budget on a single player, especially when you do not have a clear idea on where you will play him. Venky was a disappointment in IPL 2025. The price tag pressure was too much for him.

3) Not buying a middle-order batter cum wicket-keeper

Be it QDK, Gurbaz or Luvnith, all options for KKR were at the top of the order. Considering they had signed Rahane, the team must have bid for someone like Glenn Phillips or other options.
