With just one win from five games, RCB is looking down the barrel in IPL 2024. If not for a quick change in fortunes, the team could end with a wooden-spoon finish in the competition. There are multiple reasons why RCB is not doing well this season. We take a look at a few of them. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three main reasons for RCB’s failure in IPL 2024 so far.

1) Over-dependence on Virat Kohli

Before the season started, many expected RCB to have a top show by the batters. However, yet again, the story shifted to the team being over-reliant on Virat Kohli. The talisman himself is coming off a break and he has a few issues against spin, which has made things worse for RCB.

None of the other batters have gotten close to the half-century mark for RCB. Close to 40% of the runs scored by RCB till now have come off the bat of Virat. Hence, this factor is impacting the squad.

2) Inconsistent batting order

The inconsistent batting order is one of the main reasons for RCB’s failure in IPL 2024 so far. The management is also not doing well in dishing out the right batting order.

Initially, Rajat was slated at No.3 and Cameron Green at No.4. However, at times, they had to interchange. Sometimes, a different player was promoted. At times, Rajat had to finish the innings while Green came in when the spinners were on top. All of it has not done well for the team.

3) Poor captaincy

While the individual players have not stepped up so far, even Faf du Plessis might have to be blamed for his captaincy, which has been very poor this season.

Starting from this change of bowlers to field settings, he has not been on point. Faf has been over-reliant on Plan A, which is making it easier for the batters to change their tactics. However, Faf failed to execute new plans, which made things worse for the team.
