Faf du Plessis is likely to be released by RCB. For Andy Flower and co, the ideal partner for Virat Kohli at the top could be a left-handed Indian cricketer. The batter should also be good against spin. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three left-handed Indian opening partners for Virat Kohli RCB can target in IPL 2025 Auctions.

Note: We have considered players who could be released by their respective outfits before the IPL 2025 Auctions.

1) Ishan Kishan

With the kind of displays in recent seasons, Ishan Kishan is unlikely to be a part of the Mumbai Indians retention policy. Just like IPL 2022 Mega Auctions, Ishan could go under the hammer.

For RCB, he would be the ideal partner for Virat. He is experienced and can do well at Chinnaswamy. He is also not bad against spin. Most importantly, he can also keep wickets, which would solve one issue for RCB.

2) Abishek Porel

Abishek Porel is one of the left-handed Indian opening partners for Virat Kohli RCB can target in IPL 2025 Auctions. If Ishan Kishan is not possible, RCB can target Abishek Porel, unless Delhi Capitals retain the cricketer.

As seen in IPL 2024, Abishek seems to be ready for the next level. He did well with some great cameos for DC in the recent season. Just like Ishan, Abishek is a genuine wicket-keeper and this factor could convince the management to bid for him.

3) Venkatesh Iyer

Shreyas Iyer, Rinku Singh, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Phil Salt and Harshit Rana could get the preference at KKR. Hence, they may not be able to retain Venky Iyer.

If that happens, RCB should try to get him. A player with long levers as the partner for Virat could be the ideal template. His bowling will also bring balance to the XI.
