3 Indian players unlucky not to be selected for the ODI series against Australia

Ajit Agarkar announced the Indian Team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia. While many expected that the entire World Cup squad would be repeated, there was a surprise in store. The World Cup squad was selected only for the last ODI while there was space given to test some backups in the first two games. Of course, a few were rested for the first two ODI encounters. On that note, here, we take a look at three Indian players unlucky not to be selected for the ODI series against Australia.

1) Sanju Samson

For the first two ODIs, especially, considering the likes of Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli were not in the squad, Sanju Samson might have been given a chance. However, the Kerala batter missed out on the opportunity.

Unless he is injured, it does not make sense to not have a player like Samson in the setup. Especially since he has been doing decent in ODIs, his absence is a bit baffling for most of the fans.

2) Yuzvendra Chahal

Chahal is one of the Indian players unlucky not to be selected for the ODI series against Australia. With Axar Patel nursing an injury, many felt Chahal could have got a look-in. However, that was not to be.

India might have problems picking wickets in the middle-overs. Kuldeep Yadav might need a suitable partner and Chahal could have been an option. However, that has not happened. Chahal can consider himself unlucky to have not got a chance.

3) Yashasvi Jaiswal

For the first two ODIs, Rohit Sharma will not play. Ishan Kishan is more inclined to having a middle-order role and hence, picking him as a backup opener does not look logical.

While Ruturaj Gaikwad has been picked, Yashasvi Jaiswal is also someone India could have looked at. He would have added a new dimension to the setup.
