Trevor Bayliss could be sacked by Punjab Kings after the veteran coach failed to lead them to the playoffs in two seasons. Punjab Kings could look at some Indian options for their next Head Coach position. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Indian candidates Punjab Kings can target as the next Head Coach.
1) Ravi Shastri
Ravi Shastri will be a bold appointment by Punjab Kings if they pull it off. However, it could be hard to convince Ravi to get back to coaching.
With the former India Coach, Punjab Kings will get a coach who will ensure that the process is consistent. To start off, he would be a great bet to help PBKS to qualify for the playoffs.
2) Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid is one of the Indian candidates Punjab Kings can target as the next Head Coach. The Indian Head Coach is at the helm only until the end of the 2024 T20 World Cup. Of course, he can be appointed again.
If Rahul Dravid can come on board, it will be a big plus for PBKS. With the core of PBKS being a young group, a coach like Rahul Dravid as the Head Coach will help the side. Also, with a big name like Dravid, PBKS will be forced to give him a long rope even if he fails, which will help the side in the long run.
3) Yuvraj Singh
Yuvi is surprisingly yet to get into coaching. Going by his mentorship role with Abhishek Sharma, he seems to have got it in him to become a good option in the backroom.
Also, having been a terrific T20I player himself, Yuvraj Singh might come in with a lot of ideas. There are a lot of brilliant Punjab players in the team. They also could benefit from Yuvi.
