Gautam Gambhir has been decent as a T20 Head Coach. So far, he has not been great as a Test Head Coach, though. BCCI could consider a split-coaching model. This has worked in other nations. With the depth of resources in India, special attention is a must for the longest format. Here, we take a look at the list of three Head Coaches BCCI must consider as the replacement of Gautam Gambhir as the Test Head Coach.
1) VVS Laxman
VVS Laxman was the deputy for Rahul Dravid and he is doing a similar role for Gautam Gambhir, as well. However, considering the experience he has in the Test arena, he would be a good option for the board.
He already has the experience of coaching the Indian Cricket Team in various away tours. If given the role of a Test Head Coach, he could do well in bringing the best out of the red-ball cricketers in India.
2) Mike Hesson
Mike Hesson is one of the Head Coaches BCCI must consider as the replacement of Gautam Gambhir as the Test Head Coach. It is time for BCCI to trust a foreign coach. Mike Hesson has done wonders for the Kiwis in the past and he could do for India, as well.
A highly tactical coach, a candidate like Hesson is the need of the hour for Team India. It will also be a prestigious job for the Kiwi coach.
3) WV Raman
Woorkeri Raman could have been a fine appointment for Team India as the red-ball Head Coach. He applied for the role along with Gautam Gambhir.
The former Head Coach of the Women’s Team, Raman has good experience at various levels. He is well aware of the scene in domestic cricket and that will help him build a great Test squad.
