The IPL 2025 Mega Auction rules could make some superstar players go under the hammer. RCB will have some new captaincy targets. Here, we take a look at the three fresh captaincy targets for RCB due to the IPL 2025 Mega Auction rules.
1) Jos Buttler
It will be a shock if RR gives INR 18 Cr to Jos Buttler. There is no way the team will release either of Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal or Riyan Parag. Hence, RR is in a difficult phase.
The one option is to use the RTM card. However, a team like RCB will go all out for Buttler as the replacement of Faf du Plessis. He ticks all the boxes and will be the ideal candidate for the side.
2) Suryakumar Yadav
SKY is one of the fresh captaincy targets for RCB due to the IPL 2025 Mega Auction rules. Mumbai Indians can retain two players at INR 18 Crores. This itself will take away a lot from their purse. Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma might all want this slot.
On top of that, there is the captaincy requirement. The Indian skipper right now, no way would SKY not want to captain in IPL. The same holds true with the other three, as well. Hence, SKY could be released and RCB could target him.
3) Rashid Khan
Gujarat Titans might still split the money for the first two slots between Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan. However, Gill might not want that to happen because he is the next Indian captain and he would want that exclusivity.
Rashid Khan’s next step in his career is to become an IPL captain. It is blocked for half a decade, at least, at GT. If Rashid declines in form, that will never happen. However, he can enter the fray and can become the skipper of a team like RCB, which anyways needs a top-class spinner.
