Chennai Super Kings did really well in the IPL 2024 Auctions. The franchise was clear on its objectives and got most of its targets. They also managed to pull off some value buys that would help them in the future. That said, CSK did fall short when it came to certain cricketers. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three foreign players CSK targeted in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not sign.
1) Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins was one of the initial targets for CSK. It is obvious that they targeted a player who would have brought so much experience to the pace attack.
CSK needed a player who could operate in the middle-overs. Along with that, Pat also brought in experience and batting depth. After one point, CSK left the bidding war and eventually, SRH signed him.
2) Alzarri Joseph
Alzarri Joseph is one of the foreign players CSK targeted in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not sign. Alzarri did well in the first edition of SA20 for Joburg Super Kings. Since CSK also needed a hit-the-deck bowler for the middle overs, they laid their eyes on Alzarri.
However, RCB was also very much intent on signing the cricketer. Hence, although CSK did try till the end, it was RCB that landed the West Indian pacer.
3) Travis Head
Travis Head was also one of the initial targets for CSK. A quality left-handed batter who can bowl off-spin, he would have been the perfect backup or even the replacement for Moeen Ali. However, after Travis went past the threshold for CSK, the management did not bid for him.
CSK eventually signed Rachin Ravindra. He is also a good player and will also help CSK in the future. As mentioned in some of the reports, Rachin could get his chance at No.3 for CSK.
