Ricky Ponting is not the Head Coach of Delhi Capitals anymore. Before IPL 2025, the Delhi-based outfit will have a new Head Coach. There would be plenty of options to consider. Here, we take a look at the list of three candidates who could become the next Head Coach of Delhi Capitals.
1) Sourav Ganguly
In an interview with the Times of India, Ganguly confirmed that he will be the next Head Coach of Delhi Capitals. However, until the official word comes in, nothing can be confirmed.
That said, Dada will still be the frontrunner for the job. For a while now, he has been associated with the franchise as the Director. He would also be an experienced option for the management. Yes, he may not have coaching experience but Dada is fully capable of pulling off the job.
2) Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid is one of the candidates who could become the next Head Coach of Delhi Capitals. Not long ago, before Rahul Dravid became associated with BCCI, the former India Head Coach was in the Delhi backroom staff. Hence, the DC management might try to repeat this again but in a different capacity.
Dravid recently won the T20 World Cup as the Head Coach. He has the experience of building a squad from the scratch and helping the team win. DC has a strong core and Dravid might consider the offer if it is on the table.
3) Shane Watson
It needs to be noted that Shane Watson is a former assistant coach of the Delhi Capitals. Hence, the management might still have some connections with him.
As a coach, too, Watto has been doing well recently. Now, he has a top gig in the PSL and also in MLC 2024. He also had the offer to become the Pakistan Head Coach. Therefore, he might not be a bad idea for DC to consider.
