Royal Challengers Bangalore ended IPL 2024 Auctions with the overseas pace attack of Alzarri Joseph, Lockie Ferguson and Tom Curran. While they are good bowlers, it is not sure if they can make a difference at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Actually, RCB seemed to have different plans for their team. Some of their targets could not come home as RCB was short of money. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three brilliant pacers RCB targeted in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not sign.
1) Nuwan Thushara
Mumbai Indians and RCB were involved in a bidding war for Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara. However, RCB was short of money and they had to leave the war.
One of the rising death-overs specialists, he would be an incredible addition to any team. RCB would have needed him more because of his accuracy and the ability to bowl yorkers consistently.
2) Pat Cummins
RCB went as far as above INR 20 Cr to sign the Australian skipper. Had they signed Pat Cummins, RCB would have been left with very little to complete their squad. This shows how much interested they were in Pat Cummins.
He would have controlled the middle-overs and would have been a help to Mohammed Siraj at the death. Cummins would have also added sufficient batting depth to the side.
3) Jhye Richardson
Jhye Richardson is one of the pacers RCB targeted in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not sign. Delhi Capitals and RCB fought hard for the services of Jhye Richardson. However, it was Delhi eventually that signed the Australian pacer.
If RCB wanted a like-to-like replacement for Josh Hazlewood, they could not have found a better option than Jhye. He is very dangerous with the new ball and can also deliver some top variations in the endovers. His height would have also been an advantage to hit the deck.
