As per reports, BCCI has approached Gautam Gambhir to become the next Head Coach of Team India. This will be a big move if it happens. Gambhir’s first big assignment will be the tour of Australia later this year. Here, we take a look at the list of three bowlers India might select for BGT 2024/25 if Gautam Gambhir becomes Head Coach.
1) Harshit Rana
Harshit Rana has impressed a lot for KKR in IPL 2024. He is someone who can bowl in multiple formats of the game. Hence, he could be on the radar for Gambhir.
Not many know that Harshit is also decent with the bat. Gautam Gambhir likes batting depth and hence, he could opt to have Rana in the team. It will also be a good exposure for the youngster in foreign conditions.
2) Navdeep Saini
Navdeep Saini is one of the bowlers India might select for BGT 2024/25 if Gautam Gambhir becomes Head Coach. In several interviews in the past, Saini has mentioned that Gautam Gambhir played a huge role in his career.
Although he has not played for India recently, Saini has always been around the Test setup. It is mainly due to his pace and hit-the-deck ability. He was also a part of the Indian Team when they last toured Australia. Therefore, Gambhir could pick him either in the team or as one of the reserves.
3) Ishant Sharma
In the teams that he has built so far, Gautam Gambhir has shown some inclination towards experienced cricketers. In this regard, he could give a chance to his former Delhi teammate Ishant Sharma.
Ishant may not be in great form at the moment. However, his experience will be of good use to the youngsters in the setup. If there are any injury issues, he could come in as the replacement in the playing XI.
