For the second ODI against England, Australia rested captain Pat Cummins. In his place, Josh Hazlewood was announced as the skipper. It was a surprising move considering the other contenders. On that note, here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted after Josh Hazlewood becomes captain of Australia for the 2nd ODI against England.
Josh Hazlewood is the captain of Australia
Australia has had its leadership issues in the last year but things are settling down now. After the infamous sandpaper-gate scandal, the likes of Steve Smith and David Warner were stripped of their leadership roles. While Aaron Finch was the skipper of the limited-overs, Tim Paine became the Test skipper. Tim Paine, too, had his issues and Pat Cummins replaced him. This has been a fruitful decision for the team till now.
Aaron Finch’s form has not been great and he recently retired from the ODIs. Pat Cummins replaced Finch as the ODI skipper, too. However, for the T20Is, Pat Cummins does not appear to be a confirmed starter and it needs to be seen if he would get captaincy there, as well. Aaron Finch is yet to retire but that might happen soon. Matthew Wade skippered the team in one game in the T20 World Cup. Now, in the ODIs, Josh Hazlewood has got his chance as the captain. Pat Cummins will be involved in the workload management programme for Australia. Hence, he might not be available for all formats. The management must hence make a wise decision in this regard.
Twitter reacts to the pacer becoming the skipper
Josh Hazlewood was hardly in the picture when it came to captaincy. However, the pacer came out for the toss on Saturday. It was an interesting move by Cricket Australia. Here is how Twitter reacted to the same:

Which means neither Steve Smith nor David Warner are given leadership duties yet. They might even make f*cking Adam Zampa as the captain but not Smith or Warner. https://t.co/y0aVrfXs3B

Fan of the policy that the Australian captain always has to be taller than the opposing skipper.
