2 senior India players for whom the Test series against West Indies can be last
The drought for the ICC trophy for the India team extended as they suffered a massive thrashing at the hands of Australia in the ICC World Test Championship Final. They were handed a daunting 209 runs defeat and it marked their 9th straight loss in the ICC tournaments and the questions related to the selection, management and other things have started to take a toll. The focus is now on the Test series against West Indies. BCCI have axed Cheteshwar Pujara from the squad and it’s fair to say that it’ll be a make-or-break series for other seniors as well. Let’s take a look at 2 senior Indian players for whom the Test series against West Indies can be last:
Rohit Sharma
One of the popular topics that have arisen after India’s loss in the WTC is the future of Rohit Sharma as skipper and a batter in the Test team. Many have raised calls to sack him as they feel that he isn’t the Test captain and someone else needs to take the onus and take the Indian team forward in the longest format of the game. With the bat too, Rohit Sharma hasn’t been firing of late. He has been going through the lean patch and with him ageing as well the clouds would be over him in this series. This would be an extremely crucial series for him both as a batter and as a skipper and if he fails to deliver the goods it’s fair to say that this can be his last series.

Ajinkya Rahane
After his poor run of form and consistent players, Ajinkya Rahane was dropped from the Indian team and it didn’t look like he would make a comeback into the Indian squad with youngsters playing exceptionally well. But he toiled hard in the domestic circuit his performances in the IPL saw him making a comeback into the Indian team and he made the most of the opportunity after he smashed 89 runs in the WTC Final. He has been appointed as the vice-captain of the team for the West Indies series but failures there can send him packing as he already has been under the radar. He needs to be on top of this game and if he fails in two games it might be his last series.
