In many cases in the past, we have come across the World ODI XI playing a few matches. In fact, in the past, it was a common event to see teams such as World XI, Asia XI etc. However, the trend is not there right now. ICC does not go ahead with some matches at the moment. Interestingly, not many know that some T20 games have also happened in this way. Most of these matches went unnoticed. Till now, three tournaments were arranged for the World T20 XI. However, the third one in Bangladesh had to be postponed due to COVID. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two players who played the most matches for the World T20I XI.
1) Tamim Iqbal – 4 Matches
Tamim Iqbal was a part of the World T20 XI in two different tournaments. Hence, he has played the most games for this team along with another player. However, in all four matches combined, the Bangladesh opener was able to score just 57 runs.
For Bangladesh, though, Tamin was a fine cricketer. He had an early debut and played more than a decade for the side. He also led the side. However, his stint with Bangladesh did not end well. There were numerous controversies and he also once announced retirement and withdrew within a short time span.
2) Thisara Perera – 4 Matches
Thisara Perera is one of the players who played the most matches for the World T20I XI. At his peak, he was one of the best all-rounders across the globe. Like Tamim, even he played four matches for this XI.
In the four games, he scored 157 runs and took 6 wickets. He happens to be one of the best players to have been a part of this side. He retired early from Sri Lankan cricket and chose to explore opportunities across the globe.
