Star Sports recently announced the list of commentators for IPL 2024. The list was star-studded with some legends and also some of the present cricketers. A few of these names could also feature in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will happen in the West Indies and USA. On that note, here, we take a look at two players who might play in the 2024 T20 World Cup but are commentators in IPL 2024.
1) Steve Smith
Steve Smith is one of the big names who will do commentary in IPL 2024. He was unsold in IPL 2024 Auctions and hence, he has agreed to this gig. Interestingly, while he could get picked as a replacement player, he is all set to play in the 2024 T20 World Cup for Australia.
Smith, though, does not have his spot frozen for the T20 World Cup. As an opener, he is trying hard but at the moment, there seem to be better options for Australia. Also, in the recent chances he got, Steve Smith could not do his best. That said, on the slow pitches in West Indies, Smith could be needed and it would not be a surprise if Australia still picks him.
2) Unmukt Chand
Unmukt Chand is a part of this list of players who might play in the 2024 T20 World Cup but are commentators in IPL 2024. One of the interesting names to feature on the list is Unmukt Chand. The 30-year-old will be one of the youngest to do this role in IPL 2024.
A few years ago, he retired from Indian cricket and decided to explore opportunities in the USA. Hence, he has been playing in a lot of leagues. However, he is yet to make his debut for the USA. With the USA hosting the competition, they are set to play in the tournament. There are reports that Unmukt could play for the United States of America.
