2 players who might lose their spot in the ODI World Cup squad if Harry Brook is included

Harry Brook is in sensational form and England might regret not naming him in the provisional squad. He has done well in the T20Is against New Zealand and this confidence might help him in the next games, too. That said, there is still a chance for the defending champions to make a change. On that note, here, we take a look at two players who might lose their spot in the ODI World Cup squad if Harry Brook is included.

1) Jason Roy

Joe Roo’s position is safe because of his experience and all-round ability. Dawid Malan has an important role as he is a left-hander. He might, as well, open the batting along with Jonny Bairstow. These reasons make Jason Roy highly vulnerable to losing his spot in the World Cup squad.

Brook is an exciting talent and can take the game away in the middle order. He is excellent against pace and could be a fine option in the lower middle order. Someone like Moeen Ali could be promoted to take on spin and this will allow terrific balance in the playing XI. Hence, Brook can replace Roy in the ODI World Cup team.

2) David Willey

David Willey is one of the players who might lose their spot in the ODI World Cup squad if Harry Brook is included. The English all-rounder is not new to being in this spot. Jofra Archer came in place of Willey ahead of the 2019 ODI World Cup despite being in the preliminary squad.

However, this time, it could be more due to the combination that Willey could miss out. Sam Curran is sure to begin all the games and Reece Topley is the other left-arm seam option in the squads. With Mark Wood and Chris Woakes cementing their spots, Willey might not get a lot of chances. Hence, he might have to sacrifice his spot for Brook.
