India will be keen to not repeat the mistakes they did when they played in the WTC 2021 Finals. Therefore, there would be some surprising moves that could be expected by the management. A few players who don’t look like certain starters might as well get to feature in the playing XI. Here, we take a look at two players who could surprisingly play in India’s WTC XI against Australia.

1) Ishan Kishan

KL Rahul was the backup keeper for the Indian Team in the initial squad. However, after his injury, Ishan Kishan was named as the replacement. The management had other options such as Suryakumar Yadav. Hence, this makes it clear that it will be a direct fight between KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan for one spot in the playing XI.

Ishan Kishan is a left-hander and this can be crucial for the Indian Team. Yes, he has problems against the moving ball but he can be an option for some quick runs if he gets into his game. For these reasons, he stands a chance in the playing XI.

2) Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat is one of the players who could surprisingly play in India’s WTC XI against Australia. At the moment, only Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj have confirmed their spots in the playing XI. Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur are the other options.

India might need a left-arm option in the pace department. This match-up can play a vital role in the game. Also, Unadkat is not bad with the bat. This makes him a tempting option in the playing XI, especially if India is playing four pacers against the Aussies. Shardul Thakur has done well in the past but his recent form is not great. R Ashwin is a legend and could get a chance but it will be interesting to see if Indian can afford playing two spinners.
